I know Hollywood has relied on recycled plots for a while now, but they can't even be bothered to come up with original names and settings anymore?

Hollywood taking comics and turning them into movies annoys the living shit out of me.

Jiggles : While I generally agree with your comment , I would have to say there have been a few Comic-to-Movie translations that I did enjoy , most notably :

30 Days of Night
300
Conan the Barbarian
The Crow
Sin City

granted these are not thought provoking movies , but decently made IMO.I get much more aggrivated by Hollywood trying to make Videogame-to-Movie translations.

I was a little thrown off by the announced Conan title being called Conan the Cimmerian..and not the Barbarian.

I also realize that 300 was originally made quite sometime ago and people may think it to be a remake of the original movie..but as far as I know it was modelled from the comic.

FoxBat : Originality in Hollywood is something rare today...the only somewhat original screenplays that I can think of at this moment would include (and yes I know theres more) :

Fight Club
Inglorious Basterds
The Men who Stare at Goats

and the glaring few that make the oscar runs like Precious or The Hurt Locker , movies like that , that don't interest me from the get go anyways.

Winterclaw

I wouldn't worry about him for now...Uwe Bolle is in pre-production for the next installment in the Bloodrayne series....Bloodrayne : The Third Reich

Pretty sure that the original 300 movie is more about the history of the event. The 300 Spartans who actually fought the Persians at Thermopylae, sort of a Sparticus type deal. The newer (and more awesome!) 300 is based on the comics, which were losely based on the history.

Cale

Yeah I haven't actually sat through the original 300 Spartans so I wasn't able to compare the two..unquestionably the newer 300 makes my top 5 action/fantasy movies from the last few years at least.

As you can all see by my list of chosen titles..I am first and foremost a Horror/Fantasy/Action fan...I mean I like Comedies/Adventure/Mystery , don't get me wrong...so my list here is a little bias...but home is where the Horror is..the more violent and brutal a movie is..the better I like it.

28 months later will be good no doubt. Castlevania caught my eye but I doubt it will be good, will see it regardless.

A GW movie would be awful unless they rewrite the plot.

At this point I'm not even talking about unique or good movies. Just movies that aren't sequels, remakes, reboots, or taken from other popular media. That list is very depressing in that light.

Added a few more titles to the list as of today...what really jumps out at me is the saturation of Video Game adaptations that are on the horizon.
